Building on the Rock of His Promises
Consider these scriptures carefully. Don't think carnally.
Luk 6:46 And why call
ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luk 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and
heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: Luk 6:48 He is like
a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently
upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. Luk 6:49 But he that
heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which against which
the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
If we are hearing
the word of the Lord, taking it to heart, doing our best to obey it with understanding that we can only get from the Lord,
then we are building on his promises. Promises that cannot fail. They are rock solid. They can't be changed by time, circumstance,
or anything else. They are forever settled in heaven. He doesn't change, nor does his word. And if we have his word hidden
in our hearts, and we are staking everything we have on it, when the enemy comes in like a flood, then, you can believe, the
Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard, and that vessel that is full of the word of God, standing on his promises, believing
his truth, will not be taken down by the lies of the enemy. No matter what fiery darts he shoots at you, you won't go down.
You won't fall for it. You'll have built on the Rock, and you won't be shaken off it. His word in your heart will hold you
up. It will sustain you, and you won't be shaken by lies of the enemy, or circumstances your eyes behold. It's not what you
hear or see that counts, but what the Lord says, that matters.
