The Lord Upholds The Fallen
Psa 145:14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
That is where my Bible opened to when I opened it this morning. What a comforting reminder from the Lord this
Scripture is. The Lord takes hold of and props up those who fall. He bears them up, he sustains them. He raises them up when
they are bowed down. When they are crushed, subdued, he raises them up. He alone can do such a marvelous work. When you have
a sincere hunger for God, and you are all too aware of your own failures and shortcomings, in comparison with His beautiful
Holiness...He knows. I don’t think this Scripture is talking about those who deliberately reject truth and embrace sin,
even after being warned. But those who want God, want his ways, and come to realize it is nowhere to be found in them to be
what God wants and demands they be. In my own strength I cannot live and walk holy as the Word of God tells me to do. I must
have the power and strength of His Holy Spirit working in me, holding me up. His Word working in me, strengthening that inner
man, the precious life of Christ that is growing stronger in me. Have you looked in His Word and been thrilled by His glory,
His mercy, His truth, His perfectness....and then hungered and despaired because you are not as much like Him as you desire
to be? Have you made a mistake, or sinned, or been overtaken in a fault, and been crushed by your failures, and accused by
the enemy until you feel like the bruised reed Isaiah talks about?
Psa 145:14
The Lord is the Support of all who are crushed and the lifter up of all who are bent down. (1965
Bible in Basic English)
(Complete Apostles' Bible) The Lord supports all that are falling, and sets up all that are broken down.
Psa 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
He's near, he's at hand, he's ready to come to those who call out to him, those who have honest and sincere
hearts. Those who have faithful and true hearts or want to be.
Psa 145:19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save
them.
He will accomplish, and grant the desire of them that reverence him in their hearts. He hears their prayer.
He will save them.
Psa 145:20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
The Lord will hedge about and guard them who love him, he will reserve them for himself. He watches over them.
He has regard for them. That is what these scriptures are saying. If you take time to get your Strong's Concordance down,
and look up the meanings of these words from the Hebrew from which they were translated-you gain so much depth and insight.
Just in seeking a greater understanding to the definition of these words, you gain a deeper insight into what He is saying
in these verses. As I read slowly and carefully the definitions of these words in these verses it ministered comfort to my
heart. I pray it will yours, too. No matter how you feel or what you are going through, trust the Lord and his love for you.
No matter how you see yourself, trust His word. Those who are sincere and honest with him and reverence him in their hearts,
this promises he is NIGH at hand and will fulfill their desire. Hallelujah!
