The Peace GOD Offers
Phi 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth
all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The peace of God, what is that? In this verse, the word "peace" comes from the Greek word "eirene" and
is pronounced "i rah nay" and when I read that the word "irony" came to mind. It means "to join, prosperity, one, peace, quietness,
rest, set at one again." Does God have an abundance of peace, even though there
is chaos on this planet? Sure, he does, according to the Word of God. The peace of God is above what is available on earth,
it's HIGH above it, it's far superior, it's better, it has an excellency not found here on earth. Any peace you find outside
of God is temporary, and illusory. It's not true peace. It is not stable, but can be tossed about and destroyed by circumstance
or events like the breath of a breeze. Earthly peace when I consider it, puts me in the mind of house of cards, which tumbles
and falls at the slightest disturbance. When you dig in to the meaning of these words in Philippians 4:7, and consider and
meditate on them, this is surely one of the "exceeding precious promises" that Peter referred to in his 2nd Epistle, Chapter
1, verses 3-5. The peace of God which passeth understanding shall KEEP (mount a guard, a watcher in advance, a sentinel, to
hem in, protect) your minds and hearts (your thoughts, feelings, and perceptions and mind) through Christ. Because the child
of God has a fixed position of rest in Christ Jesus, He is like a Shield all around about us. But we have to believe in Him
and trust Him. If you are IN jail, you are hemmed in by bars, and locked inside the cell. If you are IN Christ, you are surrounded
with the Holy One who made you and what can harm you that would try? If it can't hurt HIM how can it get to you except it
be granted power from above, for the purpose of trying your faith, or teaching you your God can deliver you? Or perhaps your
Lord trusts you enough to allow you to suffer some things to glorify HIM to those around you who have need of Him? I know
the saints of God suffer, some a lot more than others. But in every thing I know I am supposed to seek HIM first, run to HIM
first, and let Him fill me with His strength, his power, his life force which sustains my soul and spirit. HE is the Bread
of Life, the Living Water I need and He is not bound by my circumstance, only sin (unbelief and disobedience).
